Chinese Internet Pioneer Li Xing to Give Keynote at APAC DNS Forum 2023

Renowned Chinese Internet pioneer Li Xing will be the keynote speaker at the APAC DNS Forum 2023 in Hong Kong, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation (HKIRC) announced today. 

Li Xing, who was instrumental in the development of the Internet in China, will speak about the evolution and future of the Domain Name System (DNS) at the APAC DNS Forum.

A professor in the electronic engineering department at China’s Tsinghua University, Li Xing is a member of the Jonathan B. Postel Service Award Nomination committee and the Internet Hall of Fame Advisory Board. He holds degrees in radio electronics and electrical engineering from Tsinghua University and Drexel University in the U.S. and has published more than 300 papers in his research areas signal processing, multimedia communication, and computer networks.    

In 1993, he became one of the pioneers of the China Education and Research Network of which he is currently the deputy director. Li Xing also previously served as chairman of the Professional Committee of the Internet of the China Computer Federation, as a member of the Internet Architecture Board, and as an executive council member of Asia-Pacific Network Information Center.

The APAC DNS Forum 2023 will take place as a hybrid event 4–5 July at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. It brings together regional DNS experts and the ICANN community to discuss the digital outlook for the Asia Pacific region, cybersecurity, the future of the DNS, and emerging technology.
