Closing Blog: APAC DNS Forum 2025 Highlights

Author: Samiran Gupta, VP, Stakeholder Engagement and Managing Director, APAC

Hello Everyone!

After the successful conclusion of the APAC DNS Forum 2025, I’d like to share some initial thoughts and feedback. Held from 8 to 9 May 2025 in Hanoi, Viet Nam, the Forum attracted 287 in-person participants and 230 virtual attendees. Co-located for the first time with the Contracted Parties Summit and the keystone Universal Acceptance Day events, the Forum provided a unique opportunity to welcome a broader range of attendees to the event to discuss the latest developments, opportunities, and challenges in the domain name marketplace.

Leading up to the APAC DNS Forum 2025, we worked with the community to shape the agenda, including the two pre-forum webinars. We’ve received some great initial feedback, and a formal survey has been sent to registered participants to gather more detailed input. I sincerely hope you participated in the survey, as we use it as part of our ongoing effort to make this event more meaningful for all attendees.

My highlights of the APAC DNS Forum 2025 include:

  • The Day Zero (on 7 May) closed session for APAC country code top-level domains where various topics of interest were discussed
  • Participation of UNESCO, the World Innovation, Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA), the Domain Name System Operations Analysis and Research Center (DNSOARC), and the NetBeacon Institute in the discussions
  • ICANN Contracted parties participating in the Forum discussions
  • TWNIC, Nominet, and DotAsia signing Trusted Notifier agreements at the Forum
  • The opportunity for attendees to meet ICANN executives and ICANN Board members

The session recordings and photos are now available at www.apacdnsforum.asia and ICANN’s Flickr account.

In closing, I’d like to thank all Forum attendees for their time and contributions. I warmly acknowledge our local host VNNIC for supporting us in Hanoi. VNNIC also gave participants a taste of Vietnamese culture at the Welcome Social, which was much appreciated. I’d also like to express my gratitude to our sponsors, TWNIC, NIXI, CSC, AlibabaCloud, and DotAsia, for their kind support in making the APAC DNS Forum 2025 a success.

I look forward to seeing you all again at an upcoming event!
